A Little of This, A Little of That

Here are a few pics from last night. Scott always gets the good pictures, hahaha. Maybe because they are both are so photogenic and love having their pictures taken.

In other news we have decided to get a bigger car, more like an SUV. We decided on a Hyundau Santa Fe. I really like the looks of it and it is not one of the jumbo SUV types. This is one of the things we wanted to do before we have another baby (still haven't green lighted the project yet, but it will happen) also, we are checking out some different insurance options for me so we don't have to pay as much as we did with Allison.

This weekend it is supposed to be somewhere around 100, 105 so I am hoping that Scott will put the pool up this week so Allison & I can fill it and have it ready by the weekend. Then we can all relax in the cool waters and watch Allison play. The pool is awesome. We got it from Costco. It is a double sided pool with a slide and a lounge area with cup holders...cup holders people...Scott can have a cocktail and lounge in the pool while Allison & I take turns going down the slide. Ahhh, the thought sounds so fun and relaxing, hope I remember to take pictures.

I hope you all have had a wonderful day.

What a Wonderful Weekend...

I had the most wonderful and fun weekend. On Saturday I did the Growing Healthy Families Race. We were going to do the 5k but as they were announcing the start Allison started crying and I knew she wasn't going to last so I ended up doing the 1 mile fun walk. Allison did pretty good. I was joined by my sister and my MIL so it was fun. And you get lots of free stuff like juice, rice cakes and rice chips. They also had some booths set up with information about nutrition and giant fruits and veggies walking around. When I do the race (5k) next year Allison will be alittle more aware of the fun things going on. Afterwards we went to lunch and just kicked back the rest of the day.

On Mother's Day we all went Costco and picked up some lunch. We brought it back to our house and then played Rock Band. I was the singer, Scott played lead guitar and Holly played bass. It was so much fun. I did get a few pics of Allison singing while Daddy played the guitar (the mic wasn't plugged in). She might just be the lead singer of a band, what do you think?? Then we just kicked back the rest of the day.

Scott also gave me a card in the morning from Allison. It is the cutest card with a little note he wrote from Allison in it. I almost cried when he handed it to me. It was a complete surprise. My sis also gave me one and it was so sweet.
It was the best 1st Mother's Day ever.
I hope you all enjoyed yours and enjoy the rest of the day!

House Tour - Living Room

Well this Firday is the living room. I was very lucky to have Allison sleeping and enough energy to get these pictures taken before company arrived and before my husband came home...hahaha. They were taken on Monday when the house was clean.

Kind of a recap on my house, it was built in 1954 so the layout is, well you can see for yourself. We have done alot of work with new carpet, painting (we bought the house when we were 20 so we painted all the rooms "not apartment white"), new windows and blinds just to brighten it up in here. Everything was brown, the carpet, the wood was dark and there were floor length green curtains on the windows. We have finally made it the way we like it.

I hope you enjoy!
Here is our dining room which is attached to the living room well, there are actually the same room (sorry it is so dark)

1950's wood panel wall, very retro

Our well worn couch and IKEA lamp (one of my favorite things). We used to have a velvet painting above the couch but had to take it down due to content, if I can find a picture of it I will post it.

IKEA bookcases, they take up the whole wall in the dining room. I am a big reader.

Now on to some of my favorite things I like to show off in the living area

Patricia Cornwell and Irvine Welsh are 2 of my favorite authors, I keep there books on a designated shelf (all bookcases need to have a skull on them, right?)

My other favorite books are the vintage cookbooks I collect. The one I read like a book the most is the General Foods Kitchens Cookbook - I have read it at least 10 times.

Super Mario 2 mug, who can live without that, huh??

My manger set from Spain. It stays out year round.

And the final favorite thing is the Lords Prayer plate that hangs in the hallway. It has alot of meaning to me (it hung in my Husband's Grandma's house and it was the prayer that my Grandma taught me) and I like that it hangs where I can see it on a daily basis.

I hope you all enjoyed the tour of my living room.
Enjoy the day!!!

Feels Like A Friday

Today has been quite eventful. This morning we went and picked up our race packets for the walk on Saturday. Allison has her own number and got a free t shirt she is going to wear for the race. The gave her a 4T so it will be very big on her since she is only 10 months old.
After that we walked the race route in the park and the got some lunch at TOGO's. I just love there salad/1/2 sandwich combo. It is so yummy, I always get the 1/2 pacific cobb sandwich and always change the salad so far I have tried the farmers market (really good), chicken caesar (only ok), and the chicken sante fe (really yummy - a meal in itself).
When we finished lunch, Allison went down for a nap while we all weeded the garden the we went and had some frozen yogurt, which hit the spot since it is 82 degrees today.
It has been a very fun day and I can't wait until Saturday. It is my 1st race/fun walk so the experience will get me ready for a real race.

Next week we are going to the farmers market on Wednesday - they started a month early this year, I can't wait to see what they have.

Hope you all have had a great day!!!

Hey Chucky wanna play???

Happy Birthday Scott !!!!!

Today my wonderful husband turns 32. It really is amazing how time flies when you're having fun, isn't it.
Every time a birthday rolls around we reminice about how we met, what accomplishments we have done, and how much our lives have improved since we met each other, we also do this on our Anniversary, but birthdays put everything into perspective.
At 32 he has accomplished so much, I am so proud of him and grateful for all the sacrifices he makes so I can stay home with Allison.
I hope you have had a wonderful day so far sweetie, I have a wonderful present waiting for you when you get home, wink, wink.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Allison's First Time Eating Out

Today we went to Logan's Road House for Scott's early Birthday Lunch. It was so much fun. Allison was so well behaved. She never cried once and only screamed at the waitress and other kids twice. I brought along some finger foods for her and some yogurt so she could join along in the meal. She looked so much like a little grown up in the high chair sitting across from her Daddy. It was precious. Of course I forgot the camera (grandma brought hers but I wasn't able to download the pics from it because I forgot again) even though I reminded myself last night. Oh well, next time.
In other news, I signed us up for the Growing Healthy Children Race on Saturday. It should be fun. Me, Allison, my Sister and Grandma are all going to walk it. I can't wait, it is my first race and hopefully not my last. I will remember to bring my camera on Saturday, promise.
Weight loss is kind of on the back burner. I know I have these goals and dreams of being my pre pregnancy weight but right now I am kind of in a funk about a lot of different things. I am not eating junk and am trying to eat healthier and I am walking everyday but the weight loss is just not going my way. I am not discouraged but I do not have a concrete goal for the loss yet, once I get an agreement to start trying I am gung ho, ready for action, but in the mean time I am just going to eat healthy and continue to walk and post weigh ins even if the scale is not in agreement with the way I feel.
My sister is coming to stay with us this week and I am looking forward to it. We always have a good time. She will be here to celebrate Scott's Birthday which is tomorrow - he will be 32 - and I have alot of stuff to make for that. I have a cookies and cream cheesecake to make and I think I might get a pizza (take and bake) or Chinese. Not sure but I know he likes both of those and I want to make his day special because he has to work all day.
I still have to get him something and I have an idea but I won't post it because I don't want to spoil the surprise for him (he does read this) HI HONEY!!!
Anyway, there is my long update. Make sure you check out Fridays post I am touring my living room, it should be fun, I could get the whole thing in one shot.
I hope you all enjoyed the weekend.
My baby is learning to walk. These pics are from Easter, today she did a small shuffle step then fell. I will be running after her very soon, wish me luck...hahaha!

This table cloth will hold me, right?

What are you doing???

Where are you??

Friday Kitchen Tour a Day Late

A wonderful blog I read Kelly's Korner is having a "show us where you live Friday". Well like always I am a day late but I thought I would share my very small galley type kitchen. We remodeled the kitchen in 2007/2008 and added a ton of storage compared to what was existing. I just love the new kitchen, please excuse the mess I now have a mobile child and have to wait till she is down for a nap to clean the entire house. Also, we do not have a DISHWASHER can you believe it, so don't mind the dishes in the sink...hahaha.

We installed a cork floor and it is the warmest floor in the house, surprisingly and you can stand on it all day and your feet won't ache, very cushy.

I wanted a bright practical kitchen so I chose whites and neutrals, please don't mind the dishes...hahaha!

We also chose to have art glass in the upper cabinets. Single sheets of art glass were cut to fit, green to match the flooring.

Miss Allison waiting for breakfast.

Now some of my favorite things about the kitchen, besides a place to keep all the FOOD...yummy yum!

The window above the sink. It has a great view of the back patio so I can daydream while doing the dishes.

Stainless steel above the stove. It is part of the original kitchen, I just love it, kinda reminds me of a restaurant kitchen.

OK, the last two pictures might seem offensive to some of the housewives out there but I am a collector of vintage housewifey things and cookbooks from the 50's and 60's. I find these 2 pictures pretty funny so I hung them in my kitchen.

I got this picture form Harry Spanner Magazine, now I don't know what this magazine is but the corner of the picture says that's where it's from so I will give them credit. I thought it was pretty funny so I framed it and it has been hanging in the kitchen form about 5 years now.

This last one is a magazine article from Housekeeping Monthly May 1955 and I thought that the "rules" of the housewife back then was simple and they always treated there husbands with respect in some superior man way that has been lost through the years :)

I hope you all have enjoyed my kitchen and enjoy the rest of the day!
